This year Methodist Medical Center and Roane Medical Center are partnering with Allies for Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition and Roane County Anti-Drug Coalition to raise public awareness around the devastating prescription drug abuse problem and to engage health care professionals to help us create a healthier and safer community for all of our citizens. On Monday, December 12th from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. in the Ridge Conference Room at Methodist Medical Center, a professional training will be held, designed to satisfy mandatory CME requirements for physicians licensed by the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners (T.C.A.63-1-401). Dr. Stephen Loyd, Chief Medical Director for Substance Abuse Services, will be presenting.

Overall Conference Objectives: As a result of attending this activity, the participant will be able to:
Screen and assess patients for substance abuse disorders;
Understand the neurobiological basis for addiction;
Identify best practices for proper prescribing of controlled substances including women of childbearing age
Understand the comparative effectiveness of medications for addiction treatment (MAT)
